As you have read in several newsletters, our parking lot and the neighbourhood parking is a challenge. We have had many complaints by homeowners regarding our parents parking in front of their homes, blocking their driveways, parking on the walk way/curb and even parking on their lawn – Yikes!

We have had conversations with RCMP and Bylaw Officers regarding these concerns. Homeowner concerns are legitimate and will always outweigh our convenience for drop off at school. There is no way around that. If you park where you shouldn’t, there is a good chance you will receive a ticket. Bylaw officers plan to come around and check, so this is your warning ☺.

A few thoughts for you:

• Be respectful of the homeowners in our neighbourhood. You would expect the same if it were your home/property.
• Most children can walk to school with you, each day. It’s great exercise! You just need to plan ahead.
• Most students, except Kindergarten, can make their way to their classroom from the drop off area just fine. They do it every recess and lunch when you’re not around.

Out of an abundance of caution and a desire to improve safety around our busiest times of day, RCG has a strict parking program.

The curb-side lane will now be closed permanently from 8:00-2:45 each day. Parents must proceed single-file to the marked zone in front of the school to drop-off or pick up students.

If you prefer to walk your child to class, or pick your child up after school, you must park somewhere off-site.

Please do not drop off students or arrange pick up anywhere except in the marked zones.

Be aware that making a left-hand turn back on to 201st (southbound) may be very difficult and cause congestion.

201 street northbound is likely to be very busy around 8:15-8:30, and 2:15-2:30 as drivers are trying to get into the drop-off/pick-up loop. Be prepared for significant congestion and plan accordingly.

Be aware that parking on the east side of 201 is not permitted and Township of Langley bylaw officers will ticket you if you park in this area.

The parking lot on site is reserved for Staff Only.

Please quickly drop-off and pick-up in the marked zone so as to not cause additional congestion. The procedures should result in a single, continuous movement of traffic.
